This quick tutorial will show you how to quickly and easily transfer your WordPress blog to a new server.
Please note that this tutorial only covers hosting providers which use CPANEL.
If you have purchased a blog from LucrativeBlogs.com, you should have the following files and folders (see image below):
1) One SQL file (i.e., firstcattips.sql)
2) One wp-config.php
3) One folder named: Upload

Step 1: Install WordPress
First, you will need to install the most recent version of WordPress on your new server. If you need help, please see our tutorial on How To Install WordPress Using Cpanel.
You will need the following information about your new WordPress installation:
Database Name
Database User
Database Password
IMPORTANT: If you purchased one of our Do-It-Yourself WordPress blogs, then you will also need to provide and make changes for your new domain name (see image below).
Step 2: Upload Files From Your ‘UPLOAD’ Folder To Your New Server
Inside your folder named ‘Upload’ are all the files you need to upload to your new server. Simply FTP them to your new server into the root / public_html.
IMPORTANT: If your new blog is in a sub-directory, be sure to place all your files in your designated sub-directory.

Step 3: Modify Your wp-config.php File
Go back to your BLOG files and open up the wp-config.php file with a TEXT editor.

Open Your wp-config.php File
You will need to open this in a TEXT editor. Avoid using anything else other than a pure TEXT editor. You should have NOTEPAD installed and this is what you should use (if you are using a P.C.).
You are now ready to change the information you saved from your new WordPress installation and put it into the wp-config.php:
Database Name
Database User
Database Password
IMPORTANT: If you purchased one of our Do-It-Yourself WordPress blogs, then you will also need to provide and make changes for your new domain name (see image below).

Step 4: Upload Your wp-config.php File
Save and replace your wp-config.php file and upload it to your new server.

Step 5: Install Your SQL File
Your SQL file holds all of the content, plugins, etc. of your blog. To install it, we need to log into PhpMyAdmin and select the Database.
